SIX ÁMES

Discover our special selection from Copenhagen-based Six Ámes, now available in-store at Maison NL. Known for combining French femininity with Scandinavian minimalism, the brand creates timeless pieces in exceptional natural materials.

The real star? Their signature raccoon wool. This incredibly soft and lightweight fibre comes from the raccoon’s fluffy undercoat, which is gently combed and collected during the natural moulting season. The fibres are then spun into an exceptionally soft, airy yarn that feels almost weightless while keeping you beautifully warm.

Maison NL is one of only a select number of stores in the Netherlands where you can discover Six Ámes. Our edit is exclusively available in-store – come in, feel it and try it for yourself.

ABOUT RACCOON WOOL

Raccoon wool is one of Six Ámes’ signature materials: exceptionally soft, fluffy and surprisingly lightweight. The fibre comes from the ultra-soft underfur of raccoons living in farm environments. During the natural moulting season, before the summer heat, this underfur is gently combed and collected. The fibres are then used to create an incredibly soft, airy yarn that provides warmth without feeling heavy. Six Ámes has worked with the same trusted supplier for more than a decade, with a strong focus on both animal welfare and quality. While raccoon wool is often blended with other fibres, Six Ámes is one of the few brands creating pieces in pure raccoon wool.

HOW TO CARE FOR RACCOON WOOL

Raccoon wool naturally resists odours and releases moisture, so it doesn’t need to be washed often – airing your garment is usually enough. When washing is necessary, gently hand wash in cold water with a liquid detergent suitable for wool or silk. Never tumble dry or wring the garment. Lay it flat on a towel to dry and help preserve its shape. Do not iron; instead, lightly steam from a distance to restore its natural fluffiness. Always store folded rather than hanging, as hanging may stretch the garment. Some pilling is natural and can be gently removed with a sweater comb.
