INTI KNITWEAR

INTI is a Dutch knitwear brand with a remarkable story that began in Ecuador in 1993. Each piece is lovingly handmade on two needles by local knitters, many of them women working from their own homes.

Today, INTI works with a close-knit community of around 700 Ecuadorian knitters. This way of working provides the women with valuable income while allowing them to combine their craft with family life.

Founder Anna Cales develops each new collection together with INTI’s head knitters in Ecuador. From designing and dyeing the wool to knitting the final garment, the local team is closely involved in every step. High-quality natural materials, traditional craftsmanship and exceptional textures are at the heart of every collection. Because every piece is made by hand, each INTI knit has its own unique character. For INTI, sustainability is not just about materials, but about long-lasting relationships and respect for people, culture and nature.

Beautiful knitwear with a story, made by hand, stitch by stitch.

SUBSTAINABILITY

For INTI, sustainability is about people, animals and the planet. More than 700 women in Ecuador hand-knit the collections, giving them the opportunity to earn their own income while working within their local communities and on their own terms.

INTI uses high-quality baby alpaca wool from Peru and works exclusively with suppliers whose certifications align with Textile Exchange standards. The Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) helps safeguard animal welfare, responsible land management, social working conditions and traceability throughout the supply chain. INTI believes that beautiful things take time. That is why the brand creates just one collection a year, with each piece made by hand in limited production. Slow fashion in its truest form: made with care, made to last.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR INTI
Wool is naturally self-cleaning, so your INTI knit does not need to be washed often. After wearing, simply air your garment to keep it fresh. When washing, use your washing machine’s wool cycle at 0°C with a pH-neutral or special wool detergent. Wash different colours separately and always wash the entire garment rather than spot cleaning. Never bleach or tumble dry your INTI knit. Remove as much excess water as possible after washing and allow the garment to dry naturally. Pilling is completely normal with natural wool. Use a wool comb to gently remove any pills and keep your knit looking beautiful. Every INTI piece is handmade in Ecuador using natural yarns. Small irregularities are part of the unique character of your garment.
